Basic Requirements

♦ Age – applicants must be under 45 years of age at the time of application
♦ English language – applicant’s proficiency in English is subject to examination
♦ Qualifications – the applicant’s qualification must be recognised in Australia
♦ Nominated occupation – the occupation of the applicant must be on the Australian Government’s Skilled Occupation List
♦ Recent work experience – applicants must demonstrate required experience in the nominated occupation
♦ Skills assessment – applicants must undergo a formal assessment that skills in a recognised occupation are suitable

You can apply to migrate under any of these categories:

♦ Skilled – Independent
♦ Skilled – Sponsored
♦ Skilled – Regional Sponsored
♦ Skilled – Recognised Graduate.

Application Details:
  1. Applications Outside Of Australia

    Skilled Independent Visa (Subclass 189)
    A permanent visa for people with skills in demand in the Australian labour market. Applicants are not sponsored and must pass a points test.
    ♦ must be under 50 years of age

    Skilled Nominated Visa (subclass 190)
    A permanent visa for skilled workers who can pass the points-test and are nominated by a state or territory government agency.
    ♦ must be under 50 years of age

    Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485)
    An 18 month temporary visa for overseas students who have obtained an Australian qualification in Australia as a result of at least two (2) years study. Allows applicants who are unable to pass the points test to remain in Australia for 18 months to gain the skills and experience needed to apply for a permanent or provisional General Skilled Migration visa. No points test applies.
    ♦ must be under 50 years of age

    Skilled Regional (Provisional) Visa (Subclass 489)
    A four (4) year provisional visa for people who can meet the pass mark for this visa. Applicants must be either sponsored by an eligible relative living in a designated area of Australia or nominated by a participating state/territory government. After living for two (2) years and working for at least one (1) year in a Specified Regional Area, applicants can apply for a permanent visa.
    ♦ must be under 50 years of age

    Skilled – Recognised Graduate (Temporary) Visa (Subclass 476)
    An 18 month temporary visa for graduates of recognised overseas educational institutions who have skills in demand in Australia. There is no points test for this visa.
    ♦ must be under 31 years of age
